ERWIN — Ms. Charlotte Vanover Calhoun, age 73, of 245 Okolona Drive, Erwin, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit.
Ms. Calhoun was a native of Erwin where she had lived most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Conley Eden and Mary Josephine Elliott Vanover. Ms. Calhoun was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Geer, in 2009.
Survivors include: Two daughters, Terenda Rizer and husband, Jeffery, Warrenton, Virginia, Joyce Brotherton and husband, Sonny, Erwin; Two sons, Keith Tipton and Zeke Tipton, both of Erwin; Three brothers, Tommy Vanover and wife, Pat, Unicoi, Roby Vanover, Johnson City, Marvin Vanover, Pigeon Forge; Sister, Margaret Hephner and husband, Jim, Camden, Michigan; Ten Grandchildren, Shaun, Tiffany and Kenny Rizer, Josh, Jessee and Ashton Higgins, Jocelyn, Kelsa, Janis and Sarah Tipton; Three great grandchildren, Camille Higgins, Reilly Davis and Landon Tipton; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Ms. Calhoun will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Richard Wise will officiate with poem reading by Tiffany Rizer. Music will be provided by Tenia Crawford and Inez Chandler. Pallbearers will be Josh and Jessee Higgins, Shaun and Kenny Rizer, Jason Ferrito and Josh Peake.
Committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in McInturff Cemetery, Rock Creek Community, Erwin. Family, minister, pallbearers and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Saturday.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of a daughter, Joyce Brotherton, 245 Okolona Drive, Erwin.
