John is the son of John Linscott, Sr. and Mary Hall Linscott. John married Susannah Roush, 1 Jan 1811 at Letart Falls, Ohio. Susannah was the daughter of Henry and Dorothy Nease Roush.
John migrated from Main to Ohio about 1805-1808. He served in the War of 1812, a private from 16 Feb 1814 to 16 June 1814 in Capt. Luther Shepherd's Company. For this service, he was granted a bonus of two 80 acre tracts along the Ohio River near the present site of Pomeroy, Oh.
Together with Susannah they had 9 children: John, Anthony, Catherine, Elizabeth, Dorothy (Dolly), Baltzer (Benjamin), Squires, Samuel and William.
John's father, John Sr. served in the American Revolution.
