Maryann "OB" (O'Brien) Cowell, 56, died at home on Monday. She was born April 4, 1952 in Springfield to the late Margaret (Burke) and Thomas O'Brien. She lived in Springfield and West Springfield for most of her adult life. She worked at the West Springfield Town Hall for 11 years in the Town Clerk's Office before retiring due to illness. Previous to that she worked at the Springfield City Hall for 18 years, in the Assessor's Office, where she received the key to the city when she retired. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Maryann was a breast cancer survivor, with a huge heart and loving smile. She was the loving wife of Daniel Cowell and beloved mother to Kristen and Thomas Cowell all of West Springfield. She was the loving sister to the late Jack O'Brien. The funeral will be Thursday 9AM at Toomey O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St, W.Splfd., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7pm at the funeral home.
