Valentine came to America in about 1880. He married Hedwig (Lyssy) Kuka, a widow with children, on January 11, 1881, and they had two children. Their marriage didn't last long. By 1910, they were already divorced. Valentine lived alone up to his death. He was alive as of April 25, 1930, so it is presumed he died between that date and the end of the year. After their divorce, Hedwig moved in with her youngest married daughter, Mary, and family. There are public trees showing her death year as 1925.
