James Edward Bebb died on Thursday, August 4, 1898, at the home of relatives at Barman, Oklahoma, of paralysis, occasioned by Bright's disease.
Mr. Bebb was born in Butler County, Ohio, May 22, 1844, he served in the army, came to Pottawatomie County, Kansas in 1880, where he lost his first wife (Rhoda Homer). Came to Decatur County in 1881 and was elected sheriff in 1883 and served four years. He was married the second time to Mrs. Rose McCauley in 1884 who survives him.
The 27th of last June he with his family started for Oklahoma to visit his son, William, who resides there. He was not well when he started and the trip did not prove as helpful as he hoped and soon after he arrived in that country he was compelled to take to his bed which he was never able to leave.
