Aeneas was the son of Aeneas Campbell Sr. and Lydia Cartwright. He was born in Leesburg, Loudoun County, VA. His first marriage was to Sara Hickman in Montgomery County, Maryland in 1778. His second marriage was to Eliza Ann Belt in Iredell County, North Carolina on 25 Feb 1791. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Maryland Militia during the Revolutionary War with his father, Colonel Aeneas Campbell. Aeneas and Sara Hickman had the following children: (1) James Campbell 1778-1836 (2) Mary Campbell 1781-1853 (3) John W. Campbell 1783-1836 (4) Aeneas Campbell III 1784-? (5) Middleton Campbell 1790-Bef 1850. Aeneas and Eliza Ann Belt had the following children:(1) Thomas S. Campbell 1793-1845 (2) Elijah Campbell 1795-1860 (3) Humphrey Campbell 1797-1848 (4) Esther Campbell 1799-1855 (5) Asa Campbell 08 Mar 1801 - 06 Sept 1829 (6) Ruth Campbell 1803-1880 (7) Belt Campbell 1805-1896 (8) Elizabeth Campbell 1807- 1887 and (9) David Cartwright Campbell 1810- 1888.
