Inscription

Sacred

To the memory of
ABEL BELKNAP Esq.
who departed this life
November 15^th 1804
aged 65 years 10 months
and 2 days.

In him were united all those amiable qual-
ities which could not fail rendering him
so deservedly dear to his family and
friends. His life was such as did honor
to his profession, dignified the Christian,
and bespoke him the meek and sincere
disciple of Jesus.

His body here beneath this tranquil sod
Shall rise renewed to everlating bliss,
Quickened by him whose power is infinite.

NOTE: Several of the "S" letters are carved as the "Long S", a letter that resembles a lower case "F".
