*** The church has no record of any Gauley besides Ruby being buried in St. Marys Cemetery in Ardmore, OK.

*** Captain Gauley was a member of the 34th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On January 10, 1967, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission over the Plain of Jars, Laos, when he was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.

Funeral services for Ruby A. Gauley, 85, Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Daughter of the late Butler Lawson and Annie Lee Lewis Hansard, she was born March 28, 1912, near Parks, Ark., and had lived in Ardmore since 1980 coming from Ringwood. She died Thursday, April 24, 1997.
She was married to William A. "Bill" Gauley March 9, 1932, at Perry. He died Sept. 3, 1995.
A Gold Star Mother, she had been active in Enid, Stillwater and Ardmore chapters, and had been recognized as Gold Star Mother of the Year at the Ardmore Veterans Center Veterans Day program.
She was an active supporter of the POW and MIA (Prisoner of War and Missing In Action) organization.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Murphy, Ardmore; two sons, W. Fred Gauley, Aurora, Colo., and Ike Gauley, Ringwood; two sisters, Beulah Sinclair, Stillwater, and Zula Long, Willis, Texas; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a son, Captain James Paul Gauley, USAF, who was killed Jan. 10, 1967, in Laos during the Vietnam War.

It was over Northern Laos that Capt. Paul Gauley flew on January 10, 1967 as pilot of a F105D Thunderchief When he was in the region of the Plaines des Jarres, while attacking a supply area in Laos.

When he was in the region of the Plaines des Jarres, his aircraft was shot down and he was presumed to be dead.

He died when his parachute failed to open after he ejected.

He belonged to the 34 TFS from Korat RTAB, Thailand. He was presumed to be dead.
