Services Here for Mrs. Minnie Ashburn Friday
Funeral rites for Mrs. Minnie Ashburn of Colony, were conducted in the chapel of the Farris Funeral Home, Friday afternoon, January 11 at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Dwight e. Dussair, pastor of the Methodist Church officiated. Accompanied by Mrs. John Atwood, organist, Mrs. Lutie Livingston sang "Going Down the Valley" and "No Night There".
Pallbearers were: Herbert Stiffler, Forrest Bell, Floyd Bell, Delbert Ashburn and Arthur Ashburn.
Burial was in the Garnett Cemetery.
Minnie Liber, daughter of Joseph and Phoebe Liber, was born April 5, 1882, and passed away January 9, 1952. She was married to Clarence Stiffler, March 30, 1904. To this union three children were born, Frances Brown, Clara Shelkey and a son, Emmel, who died in infancy. Thisfamily circle was broken again soon when Mr. Stiffler passed away. In June of 1 910, she was united in marriage to Ervin Ashburn. Five children were born to this union, Daisy Turner of Colony, Orval and Kenneth Ashburn of Garnett, Margie Dixon of McHenry, Illinois and Wilma McCain of Garnett. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Those surviving besides Mr. Ashburn of the home, and the children are; four sisters, Emma and Inez Liber of Newkirk, Oklahoma; Ada Bell and Maggie Stiffler of Garnett; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many friends of the family. (D.A.E./Garnett Review Newspaper, 10 January 1952)
