Born during the winter of 1792, young David Baldwin died at the age of "22 years 10 months and 16 days". The son of Jesse and Hannah Baldwin, his brown sandstone stele is inscribed with a dour epitaph harking back to the early colonial era:
"Ye sprightly youth who view my tomb
Know that the young may die
In time prepare to meet your doom
Eternity is nigh"
