John Fullbright served as a Corporal in Company B of the 2nd United States Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.

He was wounded in his right foot and leg on July 2, 1863, the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg.

He died of gangrene on July 23 at the 2nd Division, V Corps hospital.

He was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, and his occupation was listed as "carpenter."
