Aaron was a son of David Bolender and his second wife Airy Ann McKinney who died in 1833. After David Bolender's third marriage Aaron and David's three other sons from earlier marriages (Ezra, Hiram and John) were bound out to other families. David was apprenticed to a blacksmith and he followed that trade until retiring, first in Akron, then in Canal Fulton, briefly in Kenton (Hardin Co.), Doylestown for 24 years and finally at Barberton. He died at the home of his only surviving child, Mrs. Mary Rasor. He was predeceased by five children.
