Private, Company C, 7th US Cavalry. Killed in action at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, in which General George A. Custer and most of the 7th Cavalry were also killed.

He enlisted on 20 Sept 1875, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was 5 feet, 10 1/2 inches tall, with gray eyes, dark hair and a fair complexion. During the battle, his company, under the command of Captain Thomas Custer, was in the main Custer column, and he was killed on Last Stand Hill. Following the battle, the bodies of the dead soldiers were buried where they fell, and in 1877, the bodies were reinterred into a mass grave at the top of Last Stand Hill.
