Morie Bond Fowler

Morie Bond Fowler, 101, of Gravelly died Monday, June 7, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville.

She was born Aug. 9, 1902, at Gravelly, and was a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Mary Edith Start Bond. She was a certified teacher, and was a member of the Gravelly United Methodist Church where she had served as pianist and Sunday School teacher.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six sisters, Beatrice Cornelius, Thelma Ichus, Bennie Bitle, Troyce Sanders, Edith Bitle and Anna Muriel Hasty; as well as two sisters and a brother who died in infancy.

Survivors include her husband of more than 74 years, O. G. Fowler; 16 nephews and nieces, 18 great-nephews and great-nieces, 25 great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces; and a great-great-great-nephew.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gravelly United Methodist Church by Rev. Royce Savage. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery near Nola by Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Ramon Trevino, Joe Pickens, Jim Aikman, Jim Roberson, Newt Roberson and Ed Canaday.

Honorary pallbearer will be Waylan Defoor.
