He married Mary Pratt 24 Feb 1857 in Walton Co. Georgia. She was born 05 Oct 1826 in Georgia.
The photo is a copy print of an original post-war cabinet card of Private Elias Bentley who served with Co. K, "Tom Cobb Infantry," 2nd Regt. Ga. State Line Inf. This company was composed of men from Walton and Morgan Counties. This cabinet card is a copy of an earlier war-time ambrotype. Private Bentley is attired in a black coat, most probably a frock coat, made of coarse material. The military-style vest is made of what appears to be jean wool. The buttons are brass cuff size Federal eagle enlisted man's buttons. Photo courtesy of Robby Mitchell.
