COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Melvin W. Alcorn, 73, of Baxter will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memory Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and before the service tomorrow at the funeral home.

Mr. Alcorn died on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at his home.

He was born April 4, 1930, in Buffalo Valley to the late Henry and Ocie Alcorn. Mr. Alcorn was a U.S. Marine and served in the Korean Conflict. He owned his own Real Estate Brokerage and Auction Company
in Nashville.

His family includes his wife, Dorothy Alcorn; two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Jimmy Meeks of Johnson City, and Marie and Thomas Ervin of Smithville; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law,
Emily and Josh Bailey; three grandsons: Raleigh and Cody Meeks, and Brandon Ervin; a great-grandson Tyler Bailey; and several cousins.

Bro. Billy Huffstedler will officiate at the services.
