The daughter of Floyd James and Dollie Mae (Self) Daniels. In 1945 she married Ray Owens, who preceded her in death on 6 August 2010.

She leaves behind a son, Jackie Owens of Sarcoxie; two daughters, Bertha Laurence of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Alice Wheeler of Harrisonville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
