Nathaniel is my 3rd great-grandfather - one version is that he died 14 Oct 1876 in Reidsville, Rockingham Co, NC, and was buried in a Potter's Field in Reidsville. A second version is that he moved back to NC where he lived with an ex-slave.
The 1880 census seems to show him in North Carolina - Rockingham County, Mayo Township in dwelling 345 - page 37, #339, age 75. Also in dwelling 346 was a R Allen - black female and 6 black children - P.F., Franklin, J., P., John, Job and J.F. and a black male son age 23, born in North Carolina by the name of R. Allen. This was near Reidsville, North Carolina.
