Actor. He was a prolific German-American stage and motion picture actor of the 1910s through the 1950s. He appeared in more than 330 films between 1905 and 1952.He appeared with Academy Award recipient actress Joan Crawford in the 1945 film-noir drama "Mildred Pierce." Born Paul Wolfgang Panzerbeiter, he studied pharmacy at the University of Wurzburg and studying vocal music at the Conservatory of Wurzburg. After immigrating to the United States, he became involved with the theater and began working behind the scenes building sets. During the silent film era, he became known for the 1914 role of Raymond in "The Perils of Pauline." After the "talkie," he appeared in only a few films playing unnamed characters. He directed the 1912 silent film "The Life of Buffalo Bill." He made his last film in 1952.
