Gertrude O'Kain was born on September 29, 1884, in Dorneyville, Pennsylvania, her father, Dominick Charles O'Kain, was 30, and her mother, Sarah A [Rollings] O'Kain, was 22. She had two sons and three daughters with John Reimer Shaw between 1907 and 1923. She died on January 7, 1953, in Braddock, Pennsylvania, at the age of 68, and was buried in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.
