Mary (Stevens) Warren was the wife of Joseph Warren who died suddenly leaving her with 4 young sons and a large farm/apple orchard to manage. Mary determinedly rose to the challenge in a time when such a feat for a woman would be frowned upon. She raised her boys alone. Her oldest son Dr. Joseph Warren was a hero of the American Revolution tragically killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Mary would go on to mourn her eldest son by fasting throughout her life on the anniversary of his death. Her second son Samuel was a farmer, helping his mother with the farm/apple orchard. Ebenezer the third son was a judge and delegate to the Constitutional Convention. Dr. John Warren, the youngest, made great strides in medicine and would become a co-founder of Harvard Medical School. Mary was greatly loved and respected by her sons and many grandchildren. She was a remarkable and courageous woman who as a single parent raised sons who would shape the new nation.

From Di Spigna, Christian. Founding Martyr (p. 285). Crown. Kindle Edition
"Mary Warren, General Warren's mother, eventually remarried. She went to live with her new husband, Deacon John Adams, in the neighboring town of Milton. See Adams, Genealogical History of Henry Adams, p. 510."
