Andrew Edens was the son of Isham Edens & Martha 'Betty' Begley. He was born in the area of Eastern Tennessee that became Hancock County when it was created in 1844. In 1873 there was a Public Acts, Chapter 14 , that changed the boundary between Hancock & Hawkins Counties again, putting Andrew's land back into Hawkins County, TN.
On 24 Feb 1880 Andrew Edens sold his land that they ownde in Hancock County to his sister Mary Edens Wooten for $400. George was born in Eidson, Hawkins, Tennessee in 1882. In 1907 Andrew & Pharaba moved from over on the Holston River in Hawkins County to Hamblen County, TN. He bought the old Sawyer farm (info. from Whit Edens, the son of George's brother Charles Butler Edens. His mother was a Sawyer).

His pension application says he was born in 1840. Andrew was a Civil War Veteran. He volunteered at Cumberland Gap, KY on 17 Mar 1862 to fight in the Union Army and was wounded at Fair Garden, TN. He married Pharaba Moneyhun on 8 March 1868 in Hawkins County, Tennessee.
He wore a white goatee beard as you can see in his picture. In the early 1900's he bought the old Sawyer farm and moved over to Hamblen County, TN. They were the parents of: James Madison Edens; Lillie Elizabeth Edens Church; Thomas Hasque Edens; Cornelia Edens Seal; William Edens; George Thomas Edens; Parolee Edens Seal; & Charles Butler Edens.
