Z. McILMOYLE PASSED AWAY HERE SUNDAY
Was Assistant Deputy
Minister of Agriculture
Here Since 1913

Ill since he suffered a paralytic stroke at Cal- gary,two months ago,Zachariah McIlmoyle,as- sistant deputy minister of agriculture for the province of Alberta,since 1913,died at his home,10311 Saskatchewan Drive,at 9:50 a.m. Sunday.

Born at Lakefield,Ont.,September 15,1876,Mr. McIlmoyle Joined the Royal North-West Moun- ted Police in 1898 and served with that fam- ous force until 1903. During that time he ser- ved at Pincher Creek and Banff,Alta.,being in charge at the latter point. During his service he was in charge of Lord Minto’s party which toured the west. At the time of his death he was a member of the R.N.W.M.P. Veteran’s organization.

Takes up Farming

In 1903 he gave up the service to take up farming and did this successfully on a farm at Sunnyslope,near Didsbury,Alta.,until 1913.

In that year he was appointed deputy assist- ant minister of agriculture and held that posi- tion until the time of his death. Two years ago he took over the administration of the Debt Adjustment act,passed to bring aid to farmers in the drought area in the south.

Speaking of Mr. McIlmoyle’s death,H.A. Craig, deputy minister of agriculture,said Sunday night, “Mr. McIlmoyle will be greatly missed by the staff of the department of agriculture. For 15 years he had been a most valued member having been closely associated,and having been associated with him for many years. I feel a great sense of personal loss. I found in him a man of upstanding character with a high sense of public duty,untiring in his efforts to fulfill the responsibilities of his office. His thou- ghts were always for the welfare of others rather than for himself.”

Leaves Large Family

Mr. McIlmoyle is survived by his wife,Mrs. Cora McIlmoyle,and six children,Kenneth,Georgie, Marion,Stuart,Mena and Keith,a brother,Herb- ert McIlmoyle of Peterboro,Ont.: three sisters, Mrs. Leonard Allen,Ottawa; Miss V. McIlmoyle and Mrs. G. McIlmoyle,Ottawa; and Mrs. E. Dean,of Selwyn,Ont.

The funeral will be held from the family resi- dence,10311 Saskatchewan Drive at 2 p.m. to Knox United church where a service will be held at 2:30 p.m. after which interment will be made at Edmonton cemetery.

Rev. C.F. McIntosh and Rev. Thomas H. Mitch- ell will officiate.
