WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Mary Janet Rawls passed away Wednesday April 29, 2009 at the Katie B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after a long battle with Colon Cancer. Jan was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Clemmons and was active with the Columbiettes. She was preceded in death by her mother Eleanor Ruth Avernian, and her brother Robert Edward Elmendorf. She leaves behind her husband Elbert "Skip" Rawls. Five children, Robert Allen Boyer, Debra Boyer Stewart, Ross Adam Boyer, Stephanie Marie Austin, and Elbert "BertE2 Rawls, Eight grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Joshua, Paige, Nicholas, Emily, Sophia, and Eli. Special longtime friends of the family, Lynn Prouty, Kimberly Watson, and Jonathan Young. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday May 1, at 11 a.m.. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Katie B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
