Leila Marilyn Lombardini, 70, of Lubbock passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Born to Dorothy and Anthony Avernian on Aug. 30, 1942, in Queens, N.Y., she lived in Lubbock since 1973, graduating from TTU in 1982. Combining her loves (traveling, cruising, and languages), she worked and retired from Envoy Travel. She was a member of TTUHSC Faculty Wives Club, a master gardener, a member of the Lubbock Pedal Pushers Garden Club, and a volunteer tutor to adults with reading difficulties. She was preceded in her death by her parents; a sister, Diane Spadaro; and a nephew, Jack Spadaro. She is survived by her husband, Barry Lombardini; daughter, Andrea Kass and husband Roger; son, Richard Lombardini; grandchildren, Allison, Kathleen and Brenden; sisters, Arlen Thorensen, Barbara Avernian and Stephanie DeFrancesco; brother-in-law, Larry Spadaro; nephews, David Godbout, Steven Benasher, Larry Spadaro, Jay Spadaro and Bob Lombardini; and nieces, Wendy Ordoyne, Vicki DeFrancesco, Jeanette Nolan and Patty Parkyn. Memorial services will be held on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4600 48th Street at Salem. Leila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be in our hearts forever.
