DELTA--Wanda Peterson Beckwith, age 85, died May 24, 1998 at Delta.
Born July 18, 1912 to Emery Eugene and Mary Jane Sampson Peterson in Delta, third of eight children. Married Frank S. Beckwith August 10, 1939 in Delta. Later solemnized in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died May 12, 1956.
Member LDS Church serving in various capacities including a temple worker. Owned and operated Delmart Department Store in Delta for over 25 years. Also a farm. An avid gardener, particularly adept with roses and kept her yard well groomed. Belonged to bridge clubs, garden clubs. She and Frank enjoyed square dancing and fishing.
Survived by four children: Susan Dutson (William K. Johnson), Hinckley; Mary Jane Beckwith, Delta; Deborah Greathouse (Craig), Delta; Dr. Frank Collins Beckwith (Cindy), Jordan Valley, Oregon; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous foster grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Zola Birrell (James R.), St. George; Alma George Peterson (Helen), Salt Lake City; Utahna Lytle (Eugene), Lake Almanor, California.; LeVee Peterson (Gloria) Casper, Wyoming; brother and sisters-in law; Alicia Peterson, Pennsylvania; Don C. Clark, Bountiful; Katie Peterson, Billings, Montana. Preceded in death by infant son, brothers and sister: Vaughan Peterson, Mary Clark, Winford Peterson, two grandsons.
Funeral services Thursday, May 28, 1998, 11 a.m., Delta 5th Ward, 72 N. Center. Friends call Wednesday evening 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, Delta, and 10-10:45 a.m at church. Interment Delta Cemetery.
