CHARLES KOONS, 67 succumbs at his home
Vernon, June 12 – Charles Koons, 67, esteemed resident of this village for the past 30 years, die at his home at 6:30 this morning after a long illness. A heart attack was the immediate cause of death.
He was born at West Leyden, July 6, 1866, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Koons. In 1890 he was married to Miss Lena Marey. In Vernon he was in the employ of the N. A. Taylor Lumber Company until forced to retire because of poor health.
Surviving besides his widow are a son, Earl Koons, of Syracuse, a daughter, Mrs. Bernard Behr, of Oneida; four brothers, John, Benjamin and Barnard Koons, all of West Leyden and Frank Koons of Rome.

The funeral services for Charles Koons, whose death occurred Tuesday, will be held from his late home at 9:30 e. s. t. Thursday morning at 10 o’clock from St. Catherine’s Church where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by Rev. Lyial A. Tobin, pastor. Interment in charge of H. R. Alger, will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Durhamville. -
