McLain and Miss Evelyn Graham expected to surprise their many friends when they returned from Oroville, where they were married Monday, as told in the Enterprise.

“They were the ones who were surprised, however, as they were met at the train by a crowd of friends who escorted them to their home with the usual demonstration involving much rice and some old shoes.

“Both of the young people are well known here. McLain is proprietor of a general-merchandise business and Miss Graham has been his bookkeeper and clerk for the past four years.

“A good, old-fashioned charivari Tuesday night was followed by a reception.”
