Great Great Grandpa Alfonso was a character. He enjoyed drinking and gambling, like most of the family. On an earand to town to buy Great Great Grandma Angelicia a new hat, he found himself in a card game and lost most of the land and cattle they owned. Being drunk didn't help his situation as he realized half way home he forgot the hat. So, he turned around and in getting back to town all the stores were closed. Sooo, he decided to go to the brothel and buy a hat from one of the ladies.

He arrived back at the homestead and gave them the bad news but gave grandma her hat. Every man there KNEW exactly where he got it and never said, 2 words to grandma about it. Unfortunately for Grandpa, it took a whole generation to recoup all the land and cattle he had lost in the card game. Apparently for punishment they made him sit out side the mine and chisel off rock from the mineral they brought up. They found him face down with his hammer still in his hand. Poor Guy. I felt so bad for him when I heard this story. I had to share it because I knew nothing about this side of the family.
