Mr. Petty died on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 17, 1933, in Putnam County to the late Virgil & Pearl Watts Petty.
Mr. Petty was retired from Georgia Boot Company as a plant engineer. He was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ. Rellon loved to make knives, plant and harvest a garden. All who knew him, knew there wasn't anything Rellon could not do.
His family includes his wife: Evelyn Petty of Cookeville. A son and daughter-in-law: Danny & Penny Petty of Celina. A daughter and son-in-law: Jeannie & Gary Burgess of Cookeville. Two brothers: Charles & Virginia Petty of Cookeville, Jack & Shirley Petty of Buffalo Valley. Seven Grandchildren: Chastity Harrell, James, Jordon & Jacob Burgess, Rachel & Adam Gilpatrick, Mary Petty, and three Great-Grandchildren: Xa‘in & Carrigan Harrell & Kenira Hammock.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pall Bearers will be: James, Jordon, & Jacob Burgess, Adam Gilpatrick, Zack Harrell & Don Garrison.
Bros. Doyle Wilmoth & Johnny Fox will officiate at the services.
