Afton Lorraine Banks, 87, of Jacksonville, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Baptist Medical Center South. Afton was born on February 22, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late John Levi Anderson and Caroline (Walker) Anderson. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mandarin 2nd Ward.

Afton is survived by her husband, Joseph W. Banks. Additional survivors include her son, Randy W. Banks and his wife Linda of Salt Lake City; her 2 daughters, Suzanne Grimes of Jacksonville; and Shelly Manning and her husband Bob of Jacksonville; her 2 sisters, Dorothy Larsen of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Larue Meine of San Leandro, California; her 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Afton was preceded in death by her 2 brothers and her 3 sisters.

Viewing will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 18 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 19, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mandarin 2nd Ward, 11951 St. Augustine Rd., Jacksonville, with Bishop Derrick Fowler officiating. Burial will take place Monday, November 22, at 11:00 am at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL.
