Demaris Parmer was the daughter of James H. Parmer and Evaline Orr Dosier. She was born in Iron County, Missouri on 9 June 1869. She was the third of seven children of James and Evaline. The Parmer family was living in the Union Township in Iron County at the time of the 1876 Iron County, Missour Special Census. Sometime afterward, they moved to Arkansas. In March or April of 1886, Demaris married John Clark Wood. The marriage was recorded in the Mountain Echo newspaper of Yellville, Arkansas. Since the courthouse burned in 1888, the only record we have is from the newspaper.
Demaris and John Clark had six children. The supposedly moved to Bangs, Texas sometime after 1903 and stayed there for a year. They were back in Arkansas in time to be enumerated on the 1910 census. They moved back to Texas, and remained. They lived their last years in Coleman, Texas.
Demaris died 23 February 1936. Her death was caused by cancer of the left lung. She was buried in the Bangs Cemetery.
