Mr. Jackson, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late Martin Dixon and Caldonia Naylor Jackson, and the widower of his wife of 71 years, Pauline Register Jackson. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by a son, Graham Dixon Jackson two sisters, Mila J. Faircloth and Lilma J. Honeycutt, four brothers, Fuller, Bynum, Festus and Josiah Jackson. He graduated from Clement High School in 1930 and graduated from Appalachian College earning a teaching degree. He taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades for 34 years at Rolesville, Newton Grove and Clement Schools. He retired from teaching in 1975. He was a member of the NEA, NCAE and the Sampson County Retired School Personnel. He was a faithful member of the Harnett Primitive Baptist Church since 1945 where he served as a deacon, clerk and treasurer. He was Moderator of Seven Mile Association. He attended the Clement Nutrition Site for years where he presented a program at least once a week on physical exercises that were appropriate for those who attended.
He is survived by a son, Ronald H. Jackson and wife Sadie of Clinton, a daughter-in-law, Mary Mitchell Jackson of Godwin, four grandchildren, Gregory Dixon Jackson and wife Darlene, Jeffery Mitchell Jackson and wife Tammy, Ronald Todd Jackson and Kinza J. Brechka and husband Joe, three great grandchildren, Nina Jackson, Savannah Jackson and tyler Brechka.
The family recieved friends Wednesday evening, November 3, 2010 from 6-8pm at the Royal Hall Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home.
The funeral services were held at 11am, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Harnett Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Virgil Davis officiating.
Burial was made in the Family Cemetery on Dunn Road, Godwin, NC.
