Services for Mrs. Norman William (Alta Violet) Shelton, 87, of Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, August 28, 1995, at Gipson Funeral Home chapel in Lufkin with the Revs. Clayton McClendon, Rodney Shelton and M.R. Shields officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lufkin.
Mrs. Shelton died Saturday, August 26, 1995, in a Lufkin nursing home.
She was born March 3, 1908, in Bardwell, Ellis County, Texas.
She lived in Lufkin for the last 15 years, moving from Houston.
She was a homemaker and attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. N.W. Shelton,
one daughter, Helen Butzke;
one son-in-law, Georvice Baker, and
one brother, Shelby Raney.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law,
Jenna and Marshall Capps, of Diboll, Angelina, Texas,
Karren and Clifton Davis, Rena and Kent Childers, all of Lufkin; and
Ima Jean Baker, of Houston;
four sons and daughters-in-law, Rawldon and Stella Shelton, Athens, Alton and Lorretta Shelton, A.G. and Ruby Shelton, all of Houston,
David and Lois Shelton, of Lufkin;
one son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Peggy Butzke, of Houston;
three brothers, Argie Raney and Glen Raney, both of Ennis, and Grover Raney, of Corsicana;
three sisters, Mary Stovall, of Georgetown,
Ethel Stovall and Helen Thornhill, both of Dallas;
23 grandchildren;
34 great-grandchildren;
two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Randy Shelton, Ricky Shelton, Troy Baker, Terry Capps, Allen Shelton and Bobby Butzke.
Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
