Adam Bauer died at the family home, 1222 Cass Street, at 9:15 o'clock Monday evening of congestion of the liver, aged 78 years. Mr. Bauer was born January 27, 1837 in Ulmet, Rheinpfalz, Bavaria, where he grew to manhood. He traveled continuously for eight years, visiting all of the important places on the continent, and in 1864 came to America, and direct to Saginaw where he has since lived. In 1873 (1878?) he was appointed to the police force on which he served until 1880 when he received an appointment as deputy sheriff serving from 1880 until 1884 during the incumbency of Henry Miller. Since that time he has lived more or less of a retired life.

In 1865 he was married to Miss Barbara Elizabeth Jordan of this city, who survives him. He also leaves four daughters, Mrs. William Dengler, Mrs. Hector MacFayden, Mrs. William Metz and Miss Carrie Bauer, all living in Saginaw. He is also survived by one brother, Charles Bauer, of St. Louis, Missouri. The late Peter Bauer was a brother.

He was a member of the West Side Arbeiter society. The funeral will take place from the residence at 10 o'clock Thursday morning and owing to serious illness in the family will be private. Burial will be in Oakwood.
