He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Barnett Hester; son, Anthony W. Hester and wife, Tabetha; sisters, Eva Kirkley, Ima Glasgow, Marie Bragwell; grandsons, Kellin A. Hester and wife, Christy, Kollin James Hester; great-grandchildren, Christlin and Kolten Hester; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 23, 2007. The 2 p.m. funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday, July 24, 2007.
Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Don Miller will officiate. Interment will be in Belgreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Holcomb, Thomas Holcomb, Foy Hester, Jonathan Hester and Gerald Hooper. Honorary pallbearers will be The Pioneers, Waterfall Valley Conservation Club and Waterfall Valley Trap Shooters.
He had a love of life and the church and was very faithful. He was a member of Belgreen Church of Christ, a founding member of Waterfall Valley Conservation Club and member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in Pearl Harbor. He enjoyed being outside and was an avid deer hunter; he had a hobby of selling peaches and was known as the "Peach Man."
He was preceded in death by parents, Walter A. Hester and Jessie Hooper Hester.
