In 1832 Absolom applied for and received a pension for his service in the war. June 13, 1840 he wrote his Last Will and Testament and it's filed in Herkimer County, NY. His will mentions the following children: son Benjamin Gifford, daughter Martha, son Nehemiah, son William, daughter, Mary Sawyer, son, Jeremiah, son Elisah, and son John. In probate a daughter Anna's two children: Whiting and Mary Hagerdon are mentioned. His will also provides for the cost of his headstone. His will was probated April 13, 1849.
On November 23, 1857(185*) a letter is written to the commissioner of pensions by S. Fitzgerald of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan. He's writing on the behalf of one of the children of Absalom to see if there's any monies left from the pension to be distributed to the children. This child would be his daughter and my ancestor, Mary (Gifford) Sawyer, wife of Ammi Sawyer of Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan. She's also Mary Sawyer, wife of Ami Sawyer of Pennsylvania in her father's probate in 1849.
In Absalom's probate his daughter Mary Sawyer is mentioned as the wife of Ammi Saywer.
