VIRGINIA BEACH - Cynthia Powers Carper, 66, of Little John Road passed away June 23, 2008, in her residence. She is remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister. Born in Norfolk, she was a member of Bayside Baptist Church where she served as a devoted children's Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Bayside Junior Women's Club. She was a graduate of Granby High School and Old Dominion University.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Larry N. Carper; two daughters, Kimberly Anne Carper Zaleski and husband Christopher and Susan Virginia Carper Wood and husband Charles Jr.; five grandchildren, Kayleen, Alexander, Noah, Morgen and Olivia; sister, Dorothy Powers Rinehart and husband Jack. She was preceded in death by her brother, W. Farley Powers Jr. and her parents, W. Farley Sr. and Sue Powers.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. in Bayside Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Pullen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bayside Baptist Church, TWB Fund. The family would like to express their gratitude to the loving hospice staff that provided care during her illness.
