Obituary and Additional Biographical Information about Pearl Thompson.

Obituary:
Pearl Thompson, the daughter of Adam and Celia (Zeigler) Alber, was born in 1910 in Nebraska. She departed this life on June 7, 2001 at the Blue Hill Care Center in Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Pearl was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Guide Rock, and she attended the Zion Lutheran School. On December 23, 1930 she married Frank Mahnke. They had one son, Charles. After the death of Frank, Pearl married Fred Dalton, they made their home on a farm south of Guide Rock. A daughter, Marlene, and son, James, were born to this union. After Fred's death on January 1, 1967 Pearl worked as a cook at the Red Cloud nursing home and the cafè in Guide Rock. She also worked as an aide for the Guide Rock school. On April 29, 1971 she married Claud Thompson. They continued to live on the farm until Claud passed away on July 28, 1995. Pearl then moved to Blue Hill to live at Belle Amis care home and later Community Care Home in Blue Hill.

Pearl was a member of the Guide Rock United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Methodist quilters as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Past Presidents, and the Riverside Club. Pearl loved her pets, any dog or cat that she took in was well loved and cared for. She was a generous neighbor and friend, helping when needed and sharing garden produce and eggs. She enjoyed piecing quilts and embroidery work, helping with flags on Memorial Day and all the activities of the Legion Auxiliary. Pearl especially looked forward to time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands; a twin brother Earl, who died as a toddler; brothers: Paul, William, Adolph, and Henry; sisters: Cora Benker and Elizabeth Bangert, and several infant brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Marlene; sons: Charles and James; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister Rose; and a brother Roy; other relatives and a host of friends.
