Anne Hardesty Driver, 77, of 1275 Hillcrest Drive, Harrisonburg, died Sunday, February 8, 1998 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
A daughter of the late Rev. William Russell and Nannie Gardner Hardesty, she was born October 2, 1920 in New Market. She moved to Harrisonburg from Columbia University in 1952.
Mrs. Driver graduated from Shepherdstown High School in 1937, attended Shepherd College and graduated from Madison College in 1941 with a B. S. in Education. She taught public school until 1948 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and at Shepherdstown High school, after which she went to Columbia University and received her master's degree. Her post-graduate study was at the University of Minnesota and Penn State University. She taught in the Home Economics Department at Madison College from 1952 to 1967.
Mrs. Driver was past president and a member of the Virginia Home Economics Association, a member of Tri-Sigma Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma and Ashbury United Methodist Church and Circle 4.
On June 9, 1956 she married Ira Joseph (Joe) Driver, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert H. Driver of Harrisonburg and J. Milton Driver of Plano, TX: daughter, Katherine Driver Newbraugh of Berkeley Spring, WV; sister, Ruth Brittle of Remington, VA, five grandchildren, Sarak K. Newbraugh, Kate N. Keffer, Robert Joseph Driver, Stephanie N. Goetz and Samuel J. Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Driver was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Megeath.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 1998 at 11:00 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. L. Douglas Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery.
