Death came Jan. 8 to Mrs. Jennie McIver, one of the most beloved of Normangee's outstanding mothers. She died at her home here after a comparatively short illness.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Jan. 9 at one o'clock with the Rev. A. L. Connor and Rev. Lee Haris officiating. Funeral services were under the direction of Davis Cozart.
Interment was in Hopewell cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe McIver, and Charles Hay, Hans Peterson, Dr. T. A. Searcy and Jack Mathews. Rev. J. L. Wallace First Baptist pastor at Franklin assisted in services at the cemetery.
Mrs. McIver, born Virginia Searcy in Madison County, May 17, 1869, survived by the following children; Dr. Julius McIver, Dallas; Mrs R. E. Hay, Chocolate Bayou; Mrs J. G. Lyles, Franklin; D. T. McIver, Fisher's Store; Mrs A. L. Pool, Ennis; 13 grand children and seven great grand children.
She was preceded in death last May by her husband, the late Walter McIver, at Bryan Texas and by two sons, Dr. Joseph McIver of Philadelphia and the late Dr. C. S. McIver at Austin. Hers was the third death in the family in the last year.
Mrs. McIver became a member of the Methodist church in early childhood and throughout her life was a faithful member and worker in the church. She will be sorely missed at the Methodist church where she was loved and revered. She is the fourth elderly member of that church who has died recently, the other three being B. C. Coley, Mrs. E. M. Swanger and Mrs. Mattie Woolley.
Mrs. McIver, the last of the family of that name to live here.
