The Kingsley News, 5 November 1942, page 1: Mrs. George W. Fletcher, aged 82, a resident of Kingsley for the last 38 years, died Wednesday of last week following a paralytic stroke which she suffered a few days previous. Her husband, a retired farmer, died eleven years ago. Mrs. Fletcher was born in Tama, Iowa, and when a small child moved with the family to Battle Creek, Iowa. She was married there in 1884 and where they lived on a farm until 1904, when they came to Kingsley to make their home. Surviving are five sons, Earl of Mercer, California; Herbert, Albert, Raymond, and Frank, all of Kingsley; and five daughters, Mrs Mary Trout of Russell, Minnesota; Mrs. Gertie Finch of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mrs. S. Spink of Kingsley; Mrs. Dora Bowers of Anthon, and Mrs. Mabel Goosie of Fairfield, Nebraska; two brothers, A.O. Riddle of Anthon, and Theodore Riddle of Battle Creek; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Petty of Williston, North Dakota; 29 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon from the Kingsley Methodist Church with Rev. M.L. Metcalf officiating. Interment was in the Kingsley Cemetery.
