Scientist. A well known geologist, he discovered the gigantic Kettleman Hills oil field near Coalinga, California and the Dominguez Hills oil field in Southeastern Los Angeles. Through his various drilling firms, he developed wells in Tampico, Mexico, and Wichita, Texas. He also drilled for gold in the High Sierra region of California. Kettleman Hills was later investigated by Erin Brockovich for the many health issues that local residents had relating to environmental problems.
