Fort Bend Herald, August 19, 2009:

Funeral services for Benita Cortez Jasso, 82, of Richmond, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 410 Clay in Richmond. Burial will follow at Morton Cemetery in Richmond.Visitation will be held 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, and 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday, Aug. 20 in the Chapel of Hernandez Funeral Home.

Benita was born March 20, 1927, in Richmond, and she took her final journey Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Basilio and Maria Cortez; and brothers, Willie E. and Ernest Cortez.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley G. Toledo and husband, Victor, and Sylvia Herrera and husband, Manfredo; son, Agustine Guerra III and wife, Maria; brother, Joe Cortez; sisters: Emma C. Chavez, Guadalupe E. Cortez, Elena C. Vasquez and Delfina C. Guerrero; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as other numerous loving family members and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hernandez Funeral Home, 800 Fourth St. in Rosenberg, 281-342-8803.
