Rodney "Rod" Jack, 78, of North Roanoke County, Va., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 5, 2010. He was a 1952 graduate of Geneva High School, Geneva, N.Y., and a 1961 graduate of the L.C. Smith College of Engineering of Syracuse University. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in Korea for two years. Rod worked for Westinghouse in Horseheads, N.Y., for seven years before moving to Roanoke and retiring from ITT in 1994, after 25 years service. Rod was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time with his golfing buddies at Countryside and Blue Hills and as a member of Botetourt Country Club. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sally Jack; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Tolley, and Ellen and Dennis Painter; and his loving grandchildren, Amanda Painter and Logan Tolley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019.
