Bernice Burke
Bernice Burke, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and special friend, age 72, passed away Saturday, February 3, 1996 after a valiant two year battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.
She was born March 29, 1923 in Vernal to Richard John and Alberta Green Slaugh. She married Dallas V. Roberts, August 25, 1942 and they had one son and two daughters. He died June 29, 1951. She married Kenneth L. Thomas, June 7, 1955. He died August 19, 1967. She married Melvin J. Burke, March 29, 1971.She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survived by her husband of 25 years, Melvin J. Burke, Vernal; children: Miles D. (Judith) Roberts, Bountiful; Carolyn (James L.) Hardman, Vernal; Sharon (Alan J.) Trujillo, Evanston, Wyoming; step-children, Darius (Margie) Burke, Englewood, Colorado; Deleen (Daren) Green, Moses Lake, Wisconsin; Larry (Phyllis) Burke, Kaysville; LaNeita Young, Bountiful; Kathy (Wayne) Johns, Farmington, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, sister, Doris (John) Jones, Vernal; brothers, Mervin (Mary) Slaugh, Vernal; and Lynn Slaugh, Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 6, 1996, 11 a.m. at the Vernal 5th Ward Chapel. Friends may call Thomson's Vernal Mortuary Monday evening 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
