Obit: Alex was born 27 Sep 1867 in Eichesheim, Baden, Germany; the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Heck) Altenbach. He came to America with his father, brother and sister at the age of 12 yrs and they lived a short time in Wyandot, Michigan before coming to Sheboygan.

In 1895 he was married to Anna Urner and she passed away in 1907. On 25 Aug 1909 he was married to Frances Peters at the Holy Family Church. Mr Altenbach was very interested in his home and family and enjoyed his garden. In his youth, he took an active part in church affairs, especially in German dramatics. He was one of the first members of the St Boniface and Holy Name Societies; a charter member of the Liederkranz Singing Society, as well as conductor. He was employed for many years by the Crocker Chair Co and retired about 10 yrs ago.

Alex is survived by his son, the Rev Conrad C Altenbach, six daughters, 20 grandsons and 5 granddaughters; and a brother Konrad Altenbach.

His wife, Frances, a son Felix and a sister, Mrs Justina Engelhard preceded him in death.
