H. C. Belcher Rites Today – Services at Funeral Home and Church; Legion Ritual at Grave
Funeral services for Howard Clinton Belcher, 47, lifelong resident of Shreveport, who died of a heart attack at his home, 157 Jordan Street, at 5:30 p.m. Monday, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Osborn Funeral Home. Further rites will be held at 4 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. A ceremony will be conducted at the grave by the American Legion.
Mr. Belcher was born in Shreveport on June 26, 1896, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Clinton Belcher and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard Doll.
A veteran of World War I, he was associated with Buckelew Hardware Company for several years and was affiliated with the Fitzgerald Plumbing Company, as vice-president until he retired a few years ago due to ill health.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Forty and Eight, St. John's Catholic Church and the Elks Club.
His widow, Mrs. Lora Little Belcher survives him, also a daughter, Mrs. Jean Belcher Regenstein, residing with her husband at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and a son, Howard Belcher, Jr., of Shreveport.
Pallbearers will be Abe Levy, Albert Hughes, Sr., Marion Cahn, Sr., Aaron Selber, S. J. Kell, Troupe Nelson, M. J. Steinweinder and J. B. Thornton.
A rosary was held at Osborn's chapel last night.
