Dixie York, age 93, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Signature HealthCare of Fentress County.

Mr. York was born August 20, 1917. He was a member of Pine Haven Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Church Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and Song Leader. He worked as a Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer from 1953 until his retirement in 1979.

Mr. York is survived by son, David York and wife Earlene of Jamestown; daughter, Dixie Diane Green and husband Terry of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. York was preceded in death by wife, Alene ?Russell York; parents, Joe and Alta Pyle York; two brothers, Luther and Earl York; and sister, Bonnie York Crouch.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Sweat and Bro. Randy Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Wolf River Cemetery. Pallbearers included Homer York, Kevin Smith, Clark Gray, Andrew York, Matthew York and David York Jr.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.
