Former Saginaw resident, passed away at Cambridge, Ohio, at 4 p.m. Sunday. Age 78 years. Emma Smith was born June 23, 1873, in Huron County. She was married to Henry C. Houvener in 1898. He passed away in 1945. Mrs. Houvener has made her home in Cambridge, Ohio for the past five years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, in Saginaw. Surviving are six sons, Irving S. and Henry C. Houvener both of Midland; James L. Houvener, toledo, Ohio, Richard H. Houvener, Detroit; Russell W. Houvener, Kenmore, N.Y.; Jack Houvener, at home; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also two brothers and three sisters, Archie, and Rebecca Smith, both of Grand Rapids; Webb Smith, New York, N.Y. Mrs. Frank Harrison, Bad Axe; Mrs Herbert Scott, Royal Oak. Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Case Chapel. Dr. Don Morris will officiate, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel after Tuesday noon.
